The sale at Peter Kaiser is ongoing. The machines and facilities as well as the business and operating equipment of the shoe factory founded in 1838 will be auctioned on the internet and sold to the highest bidder. At the viewing, there is nostalgia among the bargain hunters and prospective buyers.
While work is still going on in the front building facing the Lemberger Strasse, the rear area is abuzz with people. Employees of the Hamburg auctioneers Lueders & Partner greet them, take down their contact details and distribute the auction catalogues. Over six hours on Thursday, more than 270 items were available for inspection and will be auctioned online tomorrow. Office equipment and computers, machines from shoe production, the vehicle fleet and canteen equipment – from the stainless steel kitchen to the coffee machine and a full set of crockery – will all be available. There are even curiosities: a smoking cabin made of glass with a bench, a stainless steel vegetable cutter, 60 stacking chairs with six tables, a standing fan.
