Oelde (gl). “If you are looking for something very special, you can find it with us,” says Vera Ritter from Hamburg auction house Lueders & Partner, who, together with her colleagues Felix von der Goltz and Hakan Eroglu, is preparing a clearance sale of antique furniture from SØR retail spaces. “For some it’s old furniture, for others it’s antiques.”
Over two days, the various items of furniture were delivered on pallets and assembled together into groups. This is how interesting arrangements came about. “But there are also many unique pieces included,” adds von der Goltz. After everything had been assembled in a warehouse on Westrickweg in Oelde, the auction professionals set about labeling the furniture with numbered pieces of paper.
“There are great pieces among them,” explains Ritter and makes her way through the great hall. She pauses at a mahogany dining table for six with the appropriate seating. “It’s a beautiful solid wood table,” she says. “But as you can see, it has signs of use. Just like some of the chairs. Of course, this is reflected in the price when we sell them. ”
The faded stickers of London auction houses Bonhams and Christies are still stuck to individual pieces of furniture. “The former SØR owner brought them straight from England to his shop,” adds von der Goltz, pointing to a few rarities such as suitcases, cradles and various chests. But an antique sleigh is also looking for a new owner, as are several historic irons, sofas and chandeliers.
“We are really dealing with treasures here,” emphasizes Ritter. These treasures are looking for a new home from April 15 to April 17, 2021. Furniture and accessories from SØR branches will be on sale on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The hall door is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
