Around 200 bidders from all over the world took part in one of Europe’s largest industrial auctions on Wednesday in the Osnabrück-Halle. The inventory of the insolvent steel processor IAG Magnum, including the massive machinery, was up for auction. A total of 850 lots were auctioned off. These included extremely heavy and long metal cutting machines, such as those used in mechanical large-part machining, toolmaking and welding. Also a huge gantry crane and a shunting locomotive with heavy duty trailer were offered for sale to the highest bidder.
“It is one of the largest live auctions in the industrial sector in Europe,” said Max Manuel Lueders, managing director of the auction company Lueders & Partner (Hamburg). Many of the second-hand goods offered would “rarely come to market” in this form. He therefore expected a seven-figure turnover from the event.
